"Automatic analysis of speckle interferometry fringes" Applied Optics, vol. 36, pp. 2395-2400
(1997)
: bibtexAbstract: Speckle interferometry is an useful technique for measuring small point displacements in
the surface of an object when it is subjected to a deformation stress. In this paper, an automatic
system for assessing these experiences is described, consisting of a computer controlled XY plane
positioner that provides both X and Y axis translation of the interferometric plate, a CCD video
camera for capturing interferometric images and the software for subsequent computer analysis.
The fringe recognition algorithm determines the fringe direction and the interfringe through a
Fourier series fitting procedure, allowing the calculation of the magnitude and direction of the
displacement of the analyzed object point.
